La alpaca evolucionó a más de 4.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar. En condiciones tan extremas, las temperaturas matutinas pueden ser de 25 °C, mientras que en la misma tarde pueden descender por debajo de -15 °C.
Las civilizaciones antiguas desarrollaron una relación muy estrecha con las alpacas para poder sobrevivir en entornos tan inhóspitos criándolas selectivamente por su fibra aislante inigualable.

The Andes Mountains cross several countries: Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela. We are in the city of Arequipa, in southern Peru, located in the western mountain range of the central Andes.
